I have a geographical handicap being located in Billings, MT, so it’s hard to see many of the films on my watch list in any given year, so I decided to pick five films from this year and another five classic films I watched for the first time this year.

I love this time of year—when Cannes is in full swing, and a slate of new films are competing for the coveted Palme d’Or! There are many promising films this year to keep your eye out for (just to name a few):
